Conversation history

Find, rename, share, archive, and export past conversations.

Every conversation you start is saved to the sidebar history (unless it's ephemeral). The list lives in the left sidebar and groups conversations by recency.

The sidebar

Conversations are grouped under headers like Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, and Older. Favorites pin to the top under their own header.

Each row shows:

  • The title (auto-generated from the first message, editable).
  • A small dot in a project colour if the conversation belongs to a project.
  • A clock icon for ephemeral conversations.

The header at the top of the sidebar has the project selector. Switch it from All Conversations to a specific project (or Cloud Agents) to filter the list.

Renaming

Double-click the conversation title in the sidebar (or open the row's three-dot menu and pick Rename) to edit it inline. Press Enter to save, Esc to cancel.

The auto-title that PrivateMind picks after your first message is usually good enough, but rename anything you plan to come back to.

Favorites

Click the star in a conversation row to favorite it. Favorited conversations sit in a pinned Favorites group at the top of the sidebar, regardless of age, so they don't slide into "Older" three weeks later.

Archiving

Open a conversation's three-dot menu and pick Archive. The row disappears from the main list. The archive view isn't a separate page yet; archived rows can be restored via the menu when they're surfaced, but for everyday use treat archive as "out of sight until I need it".

Deleting

Two ways to delete:

  • Single row: three-dot menu → Delete. Confirms before destroying.
  • Bulk: click the trash icon in the sidebar header to enter delete mode. Tick the rows you want gone (or Select All), then Delete (N). The same confirmation applies.

Sharing and participants

Open a conversation and look at the chat header. The avatars row next to the export icon shows everyone with access. Click the add-person icon to invite:

  • A specific user from your organisation (search by name or email).
  • An entire team (invite once, the team's members get access).

Each participant gets a role:

  • Owner: full control, can invite and remove others.
  • Admin: can invite and edit.
  • Viewer: read-only.

Once someone is invited, they see the conversation in their own sidebar and can pick up the thread. Replies from any participant flow through the same model and sources.

Exporting

Click the download icon in the chat header to export the whole conversation:

  • PDF: formatted transcript with roles, timestamps, and message content. Good for sharing outside the app or printing.
  • JSON: full message tree, tool calls, sources, metadata. Use for archival or to re-ingest somewhere else.

Exports open in a new tab.

Where next

  • Chat: the conversation surface itself
  • Projects: group conversations by topic, auto-attach sources
  • Files and sources: what gets attached to a conversation
